The Company, set up by the glassmaster Sergio Tiozzo, has been handed over to his son Claudio. Claudio Tiozzo has his first working experience in the family workshop from a very young age. Among his studies there are the secrets of the Murrina technique. According to Murano tradition, he apprenticed for a while in the biggest furnaces of the island: Barovier & Toso, Venini and Aureliano Toso.
Starting in 1989, he has been directing the family furnace. Since then, he has constantly collaborated with the other furnaces and with outstanding personalities in the art world. For example, his collaboration with Tsuchida Yasuhiko for a glass oeuvre for the hall of the Mori Tower in Tokyo.
In 1997 he set up, with Norberto Moretti, Davide Salvatore and Cesare Toffolo Rossit, the “Centro Studio Vetro”, which is a non-profit association for the promotion of art glass culture throughout Italy and worldwide.
Moreover, the primary objective of his company is to create quality objects using one of the most ancient glass-making processes: the “murrina”. This kind of manufacture requires a very delicate and meticulous process that only expert hands can perform correctly.
However, beside this glass traditional production, Claudio Tiozzo likes to experiment with glass and its infinite forms. The results of this additional collection are spectacular. For example, among all there are his chandeliers in “cotisso” glass. Moreover, Claudio also creates other original artworks: the monolithic sculptures.
The “Vetreria Tiozzo Sergio di Tiozzo Claudio” is a member of the Promovetro Consortium. This gathers glass-making companies that follow the traditional Murano glass criteria. Its identification code is n. 068 of the “Vetro Artistico®Murano” trademark. This certification is accorded only to furnaces that manufacture glass in Murano.
